Giving Through the Alaska Community Foundation
Donors give “through” the Alaska Community Foundation rather than “to” ACF.
Fundamental to our mission in that donors and fund advisors make decisions on where their money goes. They can decide whether they want to make an endowment for perpetuity or have their fund given to good causes during their lifetime. We may provide guidance and input surrounding important community needs, but the advisor is ultimately you, the donor.
You can donate to an existing fund at the foundation, or create a fund in your name or for an organization you care about. Giving to the Alaska Fund means you support the needs of Alaskans for years to come, based on the decisions of the Foundation’s statewide board.
The decisions you make as a fund advisor benefit our community in the ways that matter most to you. Having a fund with at ACF is a wonderful way to give to strengthen nonprofits you care about and shape Alaska's philanthropic environment for many years to come.
There are so many ways to give it’s often best to talk directly to us about your desires. That helps us make sure your goals will be achieved. More often than not, giving through us extends and probably strengthens your current charitable donations.
If your funds are just passing through ACF, why should you involve us instead of donating directly? Quite simply, we have the infrastructure to make giving easier, and our knowledgeable staff can help you target your giving to achieve the most good for Alaska. Our team pays close attention to the needs in our communities and can recommend grant opportunities. If you already know how and where you want to give, we’ll follow-through on your requests. You can decide just how involved you want the ACF staff to be.
